Listening to music while browsing is something that I enjoy doing but listening to the same songs on my playlist over and over again gets to be boring after a while.  To get over this problem I use the iTunes Radio feature quite often. One of my favorite stations that I listen to is Play Top 40 but it no longer streams smoothly, so naturally I moved down the list until I found B96’s link. Since then, B96 fm, Chicago’s Hip Hop radio station has been doing the job lately and I’m quite content with it.

I’ve been using Vivas Internet for the past few months and i have been quite happy with their speeds, however I’ve been having some issues with both the router and USB plug in lately.

Until the past 2 weeks i’ve faced these issues;

• Snow leopard and viva USB plug don’t go too well. It either doesn’t read the drive or the program crashes – anyone know how to go around that?

• Customer service is appalling, a payment has been made using their online payment option which I then find out after a couple of weeks didn’t go through. I showed them my reference number and they said that they were going to check on it but I have yet to hear back from them and it’s been 24 hrs already. I got annoyed and decided to give them a call and I was on hold for 1 hour and 5 mins until someone picked up.

• Viva’s website needs to be revamped – especially in the payment’s section, I think the customer should have the option of  being able to view all payment history, dues and all existing lines under his/her name.

Listening to this song is torture enough!

Ever wondered where lost unclaimed baggage went?

In 2008 alone, 1.8 million bags were lost forever, due to not making flight connections or being sent to the wrong flights. So what happens to them after 90 days when no ones claims them? Unclaimed Baggage Center, a company based in Alabama buys truckloads of unclaimed bags from airlines and sells whatever they find, So out of curiosity I went on their website and browsed around, they had some interesting finds.

• A 5.8 Carat Diamond Solitaire ring was sold for $25,000.  What puzzles me is who would put a Diamond Ring in their suitcase!
• A 40.95-carat emerald I wonder how much they sold that for
• A guidance system for an F16 fighter jet valued at a quarter of a million dollars, but that was then returned to the US Navy
• A Rattle Snake packed in a bag! Now how would that pass through security screening and let alone survive for 90 days without food or water?

NY Magazine’s staff put some of the craziest Fall 09 Shoes to the test on Video.

“ The shoes on fall ‘09 runways were mind-blowing. Heels were sky-high (Galliano, Dior) and bottoms were metal-plated (Manolo Blahnik at Brian Reyes). Boots went on for miles, like Rodarte’s leather-wrapped pairs. And some shoes, like Nina Ricci’s, were just so fantastic, looked more at home on circus stilt-walkers than models. So we had to find out if real women could actually walk in these shoes. The ladies of the Cut (and a few good-natured volunteers around the office) bravely laced, zipped, and strapped in for a little stroll. Find out if anyone fell”  (NY Magazine)

“The design is based on the architecture of New York City – mostly the classic architecture that is. The long and narrow case is meant to allude to the many tall buildings of the great city while the dial is meant to remind you of looking down Fifth Avenue at night in conjunction with the 58 diamonds all over the dial to serve as the “sparking lights.” The overall case has 97 diamonds, while the dial itself is mother of pearl. Total stone weight for the movement is 3.18 carats and the case is in white gold.”

I personally kept staring at the watch for a while trying to imagine what the description says but I can’t seem to see it, do you? Never the less I think this watch is exceptionally beautiful and is a great investment. I still have to find out how much damage this will do to your pocket though.

While stopping at a red light I happened to get a glimpse of a young group of adorable kids crossing the street all lined up in twos holding hands. They were heading back to school after some fun in the snow. I kept thinking Why are they out?  The temperature was close to – 5C. They looked like cute little munchkins, all bundled up in winter gear.

The first thing you picture when you first walk in to Cairo’s train station is a Scene from an old black and white egyptian movie – when Shadya or Fatin Hamama runs through the crowd trying to get to the platform just in time before her lover leaves town.  I closed my eyes and imagined myself in the scene,  My  old movie scene dream was quickly interrupted when I got distracted by the shouting and yelling around from the masses of people rushing to their trains with their luggage, baskets, sacs or whatever they used to carry their belongings in. Mothers dragging their crying children while being yelled at by their husbands ordering them to keep up. It was a complete chaos. People bumped into you not acknowledging your presence.

So much for my 2 sec starring role in my own movie. I snapped out of my pretend world and headed to the train that was en route to Alexandria. This is the best train available with the best service, air conditioned and fastest with no stops, or so I was told. I got to the platform, looked for the First Class entrance and boarded. A wave of pungent air hit me the second I got on, I didn’t want to be picky so I tried breathing in through my mouth, almost passing out.  I got to my seat and it was FILTHY, not wanting to act like a spoilt brat I decided to go with the flow out of respect for the group I was with. It was so bad to the point I started laughing at every incident that took place. I took a window seat and stared out throughout  the whole trip. We passed by farm fields,  a lot of cows, donkeys, ducks and chicken along the way.” Old Mcdonald had a farm e yay e yay oo, and on his farm he had some cows, eyay eyay o, with a moo moo here and a moo moo there, here a moo there a moo everywhere a moo moo” kept playing in my head.  The moment we reached Alexandria I was first out the door! 

What an adventure it was and I’m glad i went through it, a funny one I must say. I strongly recommend that you go through one of these experiences just for the fun of it.
